Research Interests and Teaching Interest:
My research explores mainly on Investigations of molecular and particulate organization in hybrid organo-clay mono and multilayer films. The main purpose of this work is to study the two levels of organizations which exist in organo-clay hybrid materials: (i) the organization of organic molecules on the clay mineral surface and (ii) the organization of clay mineral in solid substrate, also to study the effect of clay platelets on different properties of molecules on ultrathin films viz. fluorescence resonance energy transfer, J-dimer formation etc.
My other recent interest lies in the investigation of different properties of Langmuir monolayer by Fluorescence Imaging Microscope (FIM) and also to described a novel technique for the preparation of organo-clay hybrid film using anionic amphiphile stearic acid and anionic clay platelets using Mg+2 as a mediator.
My research also explores the adsorption kinetics of a fluorescent dye in a long chain fatty acid matrix, effect of irradiation of light in J-aggregates of thiacyanine dye organized in LB films, effect of nanoclay laponite and pH on the energy transfer between fluorescent dyes, development of DNA sensor and development of hard water sensor using molecular logic gate and also study of molecular logic gate using FRET phenomenon.
In future, I have planned to extend my study on organo-clay hybrid film in LB as well as LbL technique. I shall try to find various important properties of this hybrid material which would be beneficial for technological applications. It may be mentioned in this context that in my Post Doc I was working in “Combinatorial Identification of Explosives Using Chemically Modified Polydiacetylene Thin Films.” Now I am working in “Study of Polydiacetylene thin films by Langmuir-Blodgett technique and development of chemical sensors”. I also want to work on developing sensors using FRET and Polydiacetylene, (PDA).
Evidently, as I am a person with education and experience from Physics, I keep deep interest in Thin film and Nanoscience laboratory that directly supports the reason for my keen interest in academic profiles. During my PhD in India, post doc in Israel and research associate in India I gathered deep knowledge about different sophisticated instruments and software which will be always helpful in my academic life.
During my post doc in Israel several graduate students did their projects under my guidance, so as a member of this college, I would like to help the students in their theory, practical and also for their projects and moreover I would like to collaborate with others for different new innovative ideas. I would be happy if I can share the part of knowledge and exposure I gathered during my academic journey for the bright future of the students.
